Saturday, March 17th!

Saturday running plans for this week are in!  Scott mapped out a new route that will include 3 possible mileage and start times for people to choose from.  One for 22 miles and two separate for those wanting 11 miles.

Scott and I will be running the total 22 miles beginning at a 10:00 pace, increasing up to a 9:30. Starting at 6:00 a.m. from Crockett Park (the Concord Y), we will run the greenway toward Ravenwood HS. After passing Ravenwood, we will continue down Split Log for just over 4 miles. At Sunset, we will turn right and then take the first left onto Waller Rd. You will now be back in familiar territory of our regular Saturday run route! J  Turn right at Maxell which turns into Britain Ln. Turn right onto Nolensville Rd, ending at Mama’s Java. This will be our stopping point to pick up anyone who would like to run the same route back to our starting point to get 10/11 miles in.

Anyone interested in running the entire 22 miles with us or the first 11 can meet us at Mama’s Java at 5:40 a.m.  We will car pool over to the start point.  Anyone interested in running the 2nd 10/11 miles can meet us at Mama’s Java between 7:30-7:45 a.m.

Scott will be planting fluids at a half-way point for people to fill up bottles.  It is going to be warm so please stay hydrated!

I’ll mention a few people and their preferred pace so that others can plan for running partners accordingly….

As I mentioned, Scott and I will be start at a 10:00 pace increasing to a 9:30 for the full 22

Danielle is running the full 22 at a 10:00 pace

John Pryor (aka JP) will run the first half keeping pace with us

Steve and Travis will run the first 10/11 at a 10:00 pace

Tandy and Erin will join for the second 10/11 at the 9:30 pace

The speedy group, Megan and David are also planning to meet at the Crockett Y for 22 miles through the greenway starting at 6:00 a.m. averaging an 8:00ish pace!

Be well, run happy, have fun, stay positive and enjoy the miles! You haven’t failed until you give up 🙂

Wednesday, March 14th

Although we had a great time at Uncle Bud’s last week (Thanks Kelly Dever!…love those hushpuppies!), we are back at Mama’s Java this week for our Wednesday run!  Join us at 6:15 p.m. to run a few miles with NRC.
With the time change and spring right around the corner, we will soon be able to leave our headlamps and reflective gear behind!    Whether you are planning for 1 mile or 6, we hope to see you there!!

Saturday, March 10th

It’s going to be a fantastic day for running!!

We have  few less NRCers this week training in Nolensville due to running in the Tom King 1/2 Marathon!  Best of luck to Scott, Danielle, Zack, and Lorena!  Represent NRC!!

For those sticking around Nolensville, here are the plans:  From Mama’s Java…

7:00 a.m. Amy O, Erin and Jennifer will be running between 8-10 miles averaging around a 9:30 pace.

7:00 a.m Steve is interested in running  8 miles at a 10:00 pace

I will update throughout the day with any additonal running plans that I learn of.

As always!… Run Happy!!

NRC’S RUNNER OF THE MONTH – Kelly Dever

Not only can this month’s NRCer make your head spin with her long, blonde hair and brilliant smile, she can make you surge in a low hover with her mad spin-bike skills! Yep, it is my pleasure to announce our February NRC member of the month, Kelly Dever! NRC’s resident spin instructor has been teaching spinning for over 4 years at the Maryland Farms YMCA which she admits is her “happy place” to workout, socialize and just take a break from the stresses of daily life.  As you can imagine, quiet moments are rare in the Dever home with their three boys (Jack, Lane, and Dylan-all under the age of 5) running around.

Kelly has attempted to make the transition to running before, but lucky for us – third time’s a charm.  Kelly ran track and cross-country in high
school.  In fact, she currently holds the 8th all-time girls 100 meter record and her 4×100 meter relay team also still holds a top ten all-time record for Lassiter High!  The social scene drew Kelly’s attention away and she put her running flats on a shelf until just recently.

Fast forward to 2010, when Kelly’s friends talked her into doing a sprint triathlon (400m swim/12 miles bike/5K run) just 5 months after her second child was born! She started getting back into running then, but her third child had other ideas.  Another 9 or so months later, she began
treading the mill again.  This time it was a Couch to 5K training for the Best Buddies race to benefit a cause very dear to her heart, but the course’s hills were a wake up call to hit the road.

So, Kelly made up her mind to come out to NRC this past August.  She remembers her first NRC run as challenging and admits she had to stop and walk at times to complete the 3 mile route, but this time the running fever had taken hold…5K fever that is.  Kelly went on to complete 9 5K races in 4 months!  She made the mistake of saying she’d NEVER run more than a 5K – famous last words!  You guessed it; she’s planning to do the Country Music Half in April.

When she’s not running, Kelly helps her hubby (Craig) with their restaurant, Uncle Bud’s Catfish Shack in Nolensville, which incidentally catered the NRC Holiday Extravaganza!  She also just started her own company, Rasbury Realty (her maiden name – just rolls off the
tongue, right?!) and is prepared to answer her phone 24 hours a day!

A native of Dallas, TX, Kelly spent time in Atlanta, Louisville, and West Palm Beach before settling down in Nashville, where she’s lived for the past 10 years.  But Nolensville has been her home for 4 years and they’re staying put. It was a tragedy that showed Kelly the incredible heart of her town.  When Lane was just 8 days old, their house burned to the ground due to a faulty wood stove.  A snowy winter morning made it difficult for the fire trucks to get near the home to fight the blaze.  Kelly quickly grabbed newborn Lane, evacuating in just the nick of time with just slippers on her feet.  She will never forget how amazing the community of Nolensville was to their family, giving them clothes, toys, and
funds.  It meant so much to her and Craig, and they truly feel that – There’s no place like Nolensville!!

Wednesday, March 7th

This week we are changing things around a little as far as meeting place!  We will still meet at 6:15 p.m. However we will run from Uncle Bud’s Catfish Shack instead of Mama’s Java just to change it up a little.  Uncle Bud’s is at 7215 Nolensville Rd.  As you pull in, please park to the left on the gravel lot.  We will be back at Mama’s Java this Saturday as well as next Wednesday.

Wednesday runs range anywhere between 1 mile and 7 miles with paces averaging from in the 7’s up to 11:00.  Pick your distance and pace!  No worries if you are new to the group. We make sure everyone has someone to run with.

See everyone Wednesday!!  Run Happy!

Saturday, March 3rd

Luckily all of the bad weather this week will have passed leaving us with a decent day for running.  I will include runs outside of Nolensville as well as for Sunday this week given the number of those who have listed plans for these options.  Many people training for upcoming spring races have a lot of miles to cover. Good luck to everyone with your goals for the weekend!

From Mama’s Java on Saturday…

Scott and I will begin our 19/20 miles at 5:45 a.m.  Our anticipated pace will be in the mid 9’s.

We will plan to be back to Mama’s Java at 7:00 a.m. to pick up those interested in continuing on with us for 10 and 12 miles.

There is a 7:00 a.m. group (Amy O, Tandy, Erin Pryor, Mike Brazill, Joe Singer) who will be running between 8 and 12 miles around a 9:00/9:15 minute pace.

Megan, Ray and David are meeting at 6:00 a.m. at River Park in Brentwood (YMCA on Concord) to run 20 miles.  Pace sounds like it will average in the 8’s.

On Sunday:

There is a group starting at 12:30 p.m. from Mama’s Java running between and 8 and 11 miles at a 9:30/10:00 pace.

Best of luck to Shannon Finney Nelson on her first half marathon that she is running in this weekend!!

Run Happy!!

NRC Wednesday

Happy Leap Year!  What better way to spend the extra day we have this month but by running.

Meet us at Mama’s Java at 6:15 p.m. to run through the streets of Nolensville.  Our distance options range from 1 mile up to 6 or 7 miles with paces ranging in the 7’s up to 11 or 12 minute per mile.  There is a place for everyone!

Hope to see you there!

Saturday, February 25th

It’s been a fabulous weather week with mild temperatures. We have just about made it through winter training! Spring is just around the corner which means the races that everyone has been training so hard for are just around the corner. That being said, here are the plans for Saturday’s runs.

From Mama’s Java…

5:30 a.m. I will start my 19 mile run with plans to be back at Mama’s Java to hook up with the 7:00 a.m. group. Mid 9’s for pace.

6:30 a.m. Megan and Darryl will be running 15 miles. Average pace between 8:00 and 9:00

7:00 a.m. There are several people running around 10 miles for distance, anywhere between a 9:00 pace and 11:30 pace. This group typically starts together, each pace group then falling into place.

7:30 a.m. Terry and Kathy are running 4 miles at a 10:20 pace.

And of course, after our run, we will return to Mama’s Java for a group breakfast!

Best of luck to Travis running his half marathon in Chattanooga. You have all of NRC cheering for you! Can’t wait to hear all about.

Coming Soon! Check back in a couple of days as Amy O is hard at work writing about our newest NRC Member of the Month…Kelly Dever!

Just a reminder… Free Yoga! By Erin Pryor at the Nolensville United Methodist Church on Sunday at 4:00 p.m.

And as I always say… Run Happy! 🙂
